Opening Night Reception Featuring Gretchen Holt-Witt Opening Night Reception Featuring Gretchen Holt-Witt

Sorry! You have missed the class cutoff time.

In associaltion with the National Writers Series our Opening reception will feature author and founder of Cookies For Kids Cancer, Gretchen Holt-Witt.

A powerhouse in the houseware industry, Holt-Witt currently oversees PR for OXO in NYC. But nearly five years ago, her career took a back seat when her then two-and-a-half-year-old son, Liam, was diagnosed with stage IV pediatric cancer. Discovering a lack of research funding for the disease, she held a bake sale to try and raise money for the cause. In December 2007, Witt sold an astonishing 96,000 cookies and raised $400,000 for cancer research. Since then, her foundation, Cookies for Kids Cancer, has held over 2,000 bake sales in 49 states and raised millions of dollars for cancer reserach. Witt has been named one of 50 "Women Who Are Changing the World."

At this special event, Witt will talk about her backstory of how she sparked a national movement and other twists and turns leading up to the publication of her soon to be released cookbook The Bake Sale Cookbook.  100% of the proceeds from the book will benefit pediatric cancer research and we'll conclude with a reception, bakesale, and author book signing.
