Biodynamic Wine - Bob Paulinski
$29.00

If the world of organic wine is appealing, you'll surely be interested in the biodynamic movement based on the original writing of Rudolf Steiner. The biodynamic winemaker views his or her vineyard as a "self perpetuating ecological whole, influenced not only by terrestrial forces but those of the sun, moon and cosmos," in the words of Nicolas Joly, long considered the world's leading expert on all things biodynamic. The problem with foreign subjects like pesticides and fertilizers in the vineyard (even organic fertilizers), and aromatic yeasts and enzymes in the cellar, as well as high-tech motors and pumps, is that they disrupt the natural synergy of vines, wines, and a grapes natural expression. The gig with biodynamic vineyard management is doing everything possible to create the healthiest ecosystem possible from the dirt up. You may also be surprised to hear there's over 500 wineries world-wide that are completely biodynamic including such prestigious names as Burgundy's Domaine Leflaive, Domaine Leroy, and Chateau de Monthelie, as well as Benziger, Deloach, Robert Sinskey, and Quintessa in California. Even Opus One is making the switch. Master of Wine, Bob Paulinski is the former national wine and spirits buyer for Sam's Club, and, most importantly, a Traverse City wine shop owner and resident.
