Join us for the inaugural Tour du Terroir ("tare-wahr"); a cycling tour of Leelanau county’s woods, fields, farms, vinyards, orchards and waters (choose from roughly 32K, 65K or, 100K (kilometer) routes) to be followed by a BBQ featuring the food and drink sourced from the region - and those surrounding it - in which we'll have coursed our bikes. A day-long terroir-infused epicurean exploration and celebration; one part rolling landscape tour, one part feast, equal parts fellowship for both food-lovers and cycling enthusiasts.
Touring Start times depend on the length you choose to ride. Additionally, you may want to plan to arrive - at the MSU NW Michigan Horticultural Research Station for the 1pm presentation - Terroir Expressions of Leelanau County by Niki Rothwell, Phd & Dir. All routes will bring you to this location should you want to participate. The 32K route is an out and back to the MSU Horticultural & Research facility.
BBQ- 2:00pm to 6:00pm: You're in for a real treat when world famous BBQ master Ted Reader agrees to work with our local farmers and purveyors to create some tasty goodness. Plus, we'll have locally sourced, fermented and distilled beverages of various types to quench any terroir warrior's thirst.
