A Culinary Institute of American grad, and brains behind one of Chicago's premier catering companies, Berghoff is fourth generation of what may be the Windy City's first culinary family. Her family's restaurant on West Adams has been around for oh, about 107 years. Can any other family beat that? Recently, she and her mother gathered 150 recipes from the restaurant archives for an acclaimed new book published by Gibbs-Smith. Berghoff stresses the service/presentation/entertainment aspects of cooking at home for family and friends; a skill that she acquired genetically, no doubt.
